The first of what promises to be an annual PumpkinFest Toronto is happening at North York’s Downsview Park the Thanksgiving long weekend of Oct. 10 to 12.

Attendees will be able to experience food, contests and games, inflatables, midway rides and carnival, and a pumpkin patch.

Games will include pumpkin carving and pie eating. There will also be an antique car show on hand.

Admission and parking is free. There are costs to participate in the attractions.

“PumpkinFest was designed to celebrate everything pumpkin this October for Thanksgiving and Halloween,” said Peter Gismondi, PumpkinFest co-organizer, in a news release. “The kids and pets costume contest adds a twist to the enjoyment of dressing up and the pumpkin bowling, among other contests, gives adults the opportunity to join in on the fun.”

Children friendly features include a LEGO display, face painting, a pumpkin patch, inflatables and rides, the Little Miss PumpkinFest contest, the Pumpkin Express train, arts and crafts, the kids and pets costume contest, and stage shows.

Festival hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday to Monday. The park is located at 35 Carl Hall Rd.
